Well, in May of 2011, I graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelors degree in Journalism. While there, I immersed myself in the news of the Capital City; interning with MacDonald Broadcasting and HOM-TV on the reporting track.
At HOM-TV, I’ve covered everything from local budgets, to controversial street name changes, to copper thefts. In April of this year, I was awarded a Mark of Excellence Award in News Photography for my work on changes to school bus inspection programs in the state of Michigan.
Currently, I am a News Assistant/Producer with WILX-TV in Lansing, Michigan where I produce the weekend 10 p.m. newscast on FOX 47. I am also working as a paid intern with HOM-TV, anchoring two of their shows: Meridian Magazine and Beyond The Badge. I also co-produce those two programs.
I am looking forward to finally getting an on-air position, although I am not sure when that will happen. So in the mean time, I’ll be blogging!
Thanks for reading,
Jazmin
